Girlie Wisdom!
Women over 50 don't have babies because they would put them down and forget where they left them.One of life's mysteries is how a 2-pound box of chocolates can make a woman gain 5 lbs.
My mind not only wanders, it sometimes leaves completely.
The best way to forget your troubles is to wear tight shoes.
The older you get, the tougher it is to lose weight because by then, your body and your fat are really good friends.
Just when I was getting used to yesterday, along came today.
Sometimes I think I understand everything, and then I wake up.
I gave up jogging for my health when my thighs kept rubbing together and setting fire to my pants.
Amazing! You hang something in your closet for a while and it shrinks 2 sizes!
Some people irritate me! Especially when they say things like...'You know sometimes I forget to eat!' ......Now I've forgotten my address, my mother's maiden name and my keys, but I have never forgotten to eat!

Beverly and the Poodle-Cut

Wasn't mom pretty? You would think that she was a professional model. After getting the "poodle-cut" she was asked to pose for this picture with a live poodle, which I am told scared her to the point it was hard to smile.
Zelma and William McIntire on their Wedding Day
This picture is of Grandma Starich's parents on their wedding day. Here is the story from Zelma's personal history:"Will took it for granted from the first that he was going to get me. He didn't seem to worry about my other beaus. In the spring of 1909, after a two year courtship, we planned to get married and talked of Temple marriage. However, Will was never sustained an Elder, so we decided to get married and not tell anyone. At 2:00 in the afternoon, June 17, 1909, Will and I went to the courthouse in Price, bought our license and were married by Judge Woods.... At 5:00 we boarded the train to Salt Lake where we stayed overnight and then went on to Logan for our honeymoon. Grandma McIntire made us feel welcome and we stayed with her for one week. We returned to Price and moved into the rear rooms of the McIntire home, located on Carbon Avenue just south of the railroad tracks. We never had a wedding reception but my parents gave us our first new sewing machine as a wedding gift."

Greetings to all,
I wanted to give all of you a report on Grandma Starich.
I visited her at her new digs at Cottonwood Creek Retirement. It is a very nice place, and Grandma is enjoying it very much. She is happy that this is the facility that was chosen, because she feels very "at home" there already. They serve very good food there, three square meals a day, and she said that they serve a nice variety also. There are programs going on almost everyday, and she can attend church there on Sunday. She has made some new friends there already, and she said that the people there are nice and friendly.
Her room (112) is very nice, and she likes the setup of it. She has a new computer (nice work, Greg, Paula, and Natalie!), and Greg set her up with some very nice furniture, including a very nice remote control reclining chair. Grandma appreciates everyone who has helped to get her there. Pat did a great job in getting the ball rolling, and kudos to everyone who helped in getting her there. The location is accessible to everyone, and it is close to Pat, who has always been extremely helpful to Grandma.
Her email address is still gtarich@msn.com, and she is always happy to receive email. How many of us know anyone who is as healthy as Grandma at 97, and can use a computer as good as she does? We are fortunate and blessed to have Grandma with us! She has had family and friends visiting her already, which she enjoys very much.

Hello, Everyone!
Hello, to all of you high-techers here at the blog! I'm new to this, and new to blogging. Sue sent me the invitation, along with the rest of you, so now all I have to do is learn how to use it, post pictures, etc. Thanks Sue, for putting this together. The marvels of modern technology!
I would like to add my congratulations to you also, Lily on your upcoming graduation! What a nice accomplishment, and you did it very well! Do we all remember our high school graduation? Elaine and I both celebrated our 40th year graduation anniversaries last year (2007), and we had the opportunity to see the old crowd!
Lily, congratulations, again, on this great milestone achieved in such a grand fashion! We will try and attend your graduation and your graduation, work permitting.
Also, contratulations to Grandma Starich for her recent move to Cottonwood Creek! Pat informs me that Grandma is getting settled in and comfortable there already, and is making new friends already. Her new phone number, 801-281-2729, was not working as of Monday, but Pat said that Greg had talked to Qwest, and that it should be working soon. There have been many of you involved in getting Grandma to her new residence, and I would like to say thank you to all of you!
