Joe's Famous Thanksgiving "Turduckin"

The concept is quite simple...
You start with a turkey, a duck and a chicken...
...You de-bone the turkey leaving the wings and legs intact and attached to the skin.
Also, de-bone the duck and chicken.

Then layer the turkey meat, duck, stuffing, and chicken inside the turkey skin...
...Next you gather the layers up and stitch up the whole thing. Turn it over and bake in a slow oven for about 10 hours.
...Then "poof" almost like magic you have a boneless "Turduckin" to take pictures of and place on your family blog. Oh... I almost forgot to tell you how moist and delicious it is. IT IS!

Rudolph the Red Nosed Snow Dog!

Christmas Dinner With Grandma at Cottonwood Creek

We had a wonderful dinner together. All the Grandchildren were invited. A huge winter storm prevented many from being able to attend. We missed you, but had a delightful time. Grandma's friend Helen joined our group. We honored Grandma by presenting the family birthday calendar to her. She was thrilled with it and spent at least an hour after dinner going over it and enjoying each picture. Thanks to the family for providing pictures. We gave her a card, from all of you, that thanked her for keeping the family close, and loving each one of us so much. We look forward to a much larger gathering for her birthday. She will turn 98 on January 5th. The large room at Cottonwood has been reserved and everyone is invited. Paula is spear-heading this event. See her for dates and all. Thanks Paula! See you all there.

Dance Party At Cottonwood Creek!

L-R (William, Jagger, Zack, Jasmine, Grandma, Greg, Dusty)

The Entertainment

We had a nice visit with grandma yesterday. We arrived planning on singing some Christmas carols, but everyone ended up watching Zack shake his booty to Jingle Bell Rock! The other boys joined in on the action too. Though, Grandmas singing/dancing Santa stole the show. Baby Jasmine had fun playing on grandmas lap. It was great to see Tricia too. Thanks Grandma for letting us invade your new home!!

Remembering Grandpa Starich for his Birthday - December 6th

Tomorrow is Grandpa Starich's birthday. This picture was taken at my wedding, on May 24, 1975. Grandpa was 65 at the time. Grandma and Grandpa were a handsome couple and so young looking for 64 and 65!

Remembering Grandpa Jim on his Birthday.

Grandpa Jim was born in 1910. He was a fun dad. He was very talented musically. He sang and played several instruments, all self taught. He did beautiful wood working. He always had a lovely garden which he tended with great care. He had a good sense of humor and found Grandma Starich to be the source of much of his laughter. It is fun to pause this morning and remember him. Happy Birthday Dad!

Let's Say Thanks!

It only takes a couple of clicks to send a card to a soldier. Help your children do this so they can say thank you too! -Sue

If you go to this web site, www.LetsSayThanks.com
you can pick out a thank you card and Xerox will print it
and it will be sent to a soldier that is currently serving
in Iraq . You can't pick out who gets it, but it will go
to a member of the armed services.
**Thanks to Aunt
Claudia who sent this to me!

Merry Christmas!!

Thanks to Tom, my Christmas cards will actually go out on time this year! Yesterday morning Tom and Nat came over to snap a few shots of my lovely family. The boys cooperated (Shane included!) and we got some really terrific pictures. This magnificent setting is in our backyard. How lucky are we?! Happy Holidays. ~M

Thanksgiving 2008!

The Knights had a wonderful Turkey Day! We gathered in Pleasant Grove at Shane & Marys house. Shane, Tom & Matt represented the family in the Creekside (neighborhood) football game. There were only a few minor injuries, but lots of complaints about the aches and pains! Next year we are planning on an entire KNIGHT family team!
I managed to cook a 30lbs turkey. This was quite a feat since it was my 2nd turkey ever. Dinner was a great team effort. It was so much fun to watch all of the cousins play together. We put off getting rid of some stray kittens just so the boys could show them to their cousins! The men cleared the table and washed all of the dishes. HOORAY!! We had a great day.

Hampton Ave. SOLD!

It is bitter sweet that I tell you today... Grandma's house sold (with the organ)! Pat reports that it was an easy, stress free, CASH offer. It recorded and closed today. This is truly a Christmas blessing coming after some sincere, dedicated prayers. Thanks to all the many family members that helped with her move and preparing the house to sell. Remember that Grandma's house will always BE where SHE is.
