Grandma Starich's Salsa

I found this when searching for recipes for Lily and thought you would all like to have it! -Sue

Salsa Like Only Grandma Can Make!

24 tomatoes skinned and mashed

(or one #10 can crushed tomatoes)

3-5 jalapeƱo peppers, chopped (or more if you like it hotter)

2 yellow bell peppers, chopped

2 red bell peppers, chopped

2 green bell peppers, chopped

5 onions, chopped

½ c. white vinegar

2-3 T. salt, to taste

4-8 chopped garlic buds

Cook all ingredients on medium heat 2.5 – 3 hours, stirring often. Place in hot pint jars and lids. Screw tight. Process in a hot water bath 30 min. Cool to make sure the lids seal. Yield about 8 pints.

You know, Grandpa Jim was a very good cook. I wonder if any of his recipes are around? I think that I may have the Austrian sweet bread recipe that Grandma Angela and Grandpa Jim used to make. I made it a couple of times with my kids in California. It was yummy. I"ll look for it.
